Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and the big American services all use the same basic trick to spot a VPN: they keep lists of IP addresses that belong to VPN companies and block them. When your server lands on one of those lists, you get a proxy error, a black screen or a catalogue that suddenly looks different.

Most of the time the fix is quick. A fresh server, a cleared cache or the official app gets you going again. Some services, like Hulu and Peacock, also check your payment details and account region, so a VPN alone isn't always enough. Each guide below explains what that service checks and what actually works.
