VPN Not Working With Apps, Games or Social Media? Fix It
ChatGPT, Discord, WhatsApp, TikTok, Roblox, Steam and more refusing to work over your VPN, with simple fixes for every app
Apps and games block VPNs for different reasons from streaming services. Some are trying to stop spam and fake accounts, some are protecting regional pricing, and some just get confused when your location jumps around. The result is the same: endless captchas, failed logins or calls that won't connect.
These guides explain why each app reacts badly to a VPN and how to keep both working at once, often with split tunnelling (a setting that lets one app skip the VPN while everything else stays protected).

Our recommendations
The Best VPNs for Apps and Gaming
If the fixes above didn’t work, the problem is usually the VPN itself. Not all providers are equal at unblocking streaming services. These are the ones we recommend, based on their streaming track record, features and value.
The “Try” buttons for NordVPN, ExpressVPN and PureVPN are affiliate links: we earn a commission if you subscribe, at no extra cost to you. Full disclosure.
Widely rated among the most consistent VPNs for BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Disney+, and the harder UK services. Reliable, fast, and works on up to ten devices at once.
Consistently among the fastest in independent speed tests, and competitively priced. A strong choice if speed, picture quality, or smart TV streaming matters to you.
The most affordable of our three picks. Still unblocks all the major streaming services, and the price makes it a sensible starting point if you're new to VPNs.

VPN use is legal in the UK and most countries. Accessing streaming services from outside their licensed territory may fall outside their terms of service; check the terms of any service before use.
